Bio-identical hormones are made in a laboratory, often from the components of plants, to match exactly the formula that your body produces and has been used to. In contrast, synthetic hormones are designed by drug companies and are foreign to the human body, made unique in ways so that they can be patented. Bio-identical hormones behave more harmoniously in the body, relieving the stresses of hormone deficiencies without creating new unwanted imbalances. Dr. Varese only prescribes bio-identical hormone therapy. Dr. Varese has over 20 years of experience with individualized management of thyroid excellence and adrenal and female/male hormone needs. |

Normal function in the brain is a matter of the appropriate relay of electrical signals and subsequent chemical (neurotransmitter) release. Through these electrical signals and the subsequent release of neurotransmitters, neurons (nerve cells) communicate with each other and organs in the body. The process of neurotransmission can easily be described using an analogy of a car. Just like a car, neurons use an accelerator and a brake to regulate speed. And just like in a car, the brakes must be maintained or the car will not be able to stop. If the inhibitory system isn’t maintained or replenished, then the excitatory system will be allowed to go out of control, and eventually, it will become exhausted. Proper balance is necessary. Dr. Varese uses the laboratory assessment of neurotransmitter levels to design a more complete treatment program for her patients. |
